Driving Licenses for Non Jordanians
A. Non Jordanians can obtain a Jordanian driving license on the following conditions:
1. Applicants must prove their identity with one of the following documents: a passport, a travel document
2. They hold a Non Jordanian driving license or an equivalent certificate delivered by one of the licensed training centers.
3. They have a residence permit to stay in the Kingdom or they hold a temporary Jordanian passport.
4. They passed the required technical exam for the license type they want, if the applicants do not have a valid foreign driving license and the practical test is waived by the minister of interior, on the condition of reciprocal treatment by their country.
5. Applicants who are not covered by the law of residency for foreigners must prove a certificate that they have no criminal record
6. Applicants are physically fit and they pass the required medical health check.
7. The validity of type three is ten years; that of types two, four; that of types five and six is one year, that of type seven is two years.
8. Types two, four, five and six are granted only to Jordanian citizens, provided they do not have a criminal record, The minister may grant these types to Non Jordanians in cases he finds appropriate, and according to instructions
he would specifically issue for this purpose.
B- It is permitted to drive non-Jordanian vehicles the Kingdom and rent-a-car vehicles and tourism motorcycles a driver holding a
valid international driving license issued outside the Kingdom on condition the drivers has completed 18 years.
C-The traffic department and its divisions throughout the governorates may grant the Jordanian residing outside the Kingdom or non- Jordanian a renewable driving permit for a period no more than 3
months within a year to drive Jordanian small passengers' cars within the Kingdom if any of them holds a valid foreign driving license on condition that its holder has completed 18 years.
